6th Kabasan Festival: The fun never stops!

As the summer heat goes wild and great in Samal Island, most people got really excited as the most awaited 6th Kabasan Festival stunned Samal this last week of May. Many tourists and locals storm Samal Island for the Kabasan Festival culmination last May 28 wherein highlights of the festival amazed all onlookers.

The weeklong celebration consist of many fun and festive activities like salo-salo sa kabasan, 3 cock derby, motocross, fireworks, street/foam party, fire dancing exhibition, baile del calle, and Hiyas ng Kabasan and more activities that made this festival another unforgettable Kabasan celebration.

For the past five years, Kabasan Festival has been celebrated in Samal as a commemoration of the foundation of the municipality of Babak District. Kabasan is the Samalenos' lumad term of "seashells" that is why most of the essentials in the week long celebration were related to seashells and other sea creatures.
